The $15 million facility includes the
regional headquarters for the
National Weather Service,
a state-of-the-art auditorium,
classrooms, Class A office space and
conference rooms. The Center
features the most current technology
in weather forecasting and advanced
computer equipment, including
Doppler radar and Automated Surface
Observation System. |

The National Weather Service Training Center
(NWSTC) provides technical and professional
training to NWS meteorologists, hydrologists,
electronic technicians and other personnel. The
Aviation Weather Center (AWC) provides warnings,
forecasts and computational analysis of
hazardous weather to enhance safety for
domestic and international aviation. Both
entities provide training and services vital to
the nations security and are now co-located in
a 100,000-square-foot national facility, providing
significant economies and efficiencies.
Keenan Development was chosen to provide a
full range of development services for this project,
from transaction structuring and development
to quality assurance and quality control.

Since both entities require continuous operation
24/7/365, the facility includes redundant electrical
systems supported by three separate generators
and UPS systems. The dual occupancy of
the building required that a flexible mechanical
system be utilized. Computer support areas and
forecasting areas are served by dedicated computer
units for maximum flexibility and efficiency.
As is the case with all Keenan Development
projects, the National Weather Service Training
Center and Aviation Weather Center were
completed on time and within budget.
